To Report Abuse: follow these guidelines from the Diocese of Tucson

To Report Abuse

Follow these Guidelines from the Diocese of Tucson

The Office is the principal internal means by which the Diocese receives and responds to allegations of sexual misconduct by Church personnel, especially any misconduct by Church personnel that affects children.

If you or anyone you know has experienced abuse by any worker (priest, deacon, sister, brother, employee or volunteer) for the Roman Catholic Church or for the Diocese of Tucson -- no matter when or where the abuse happened -- we urge you to do two things:

1. Call law enforcement to make a report.

If the abuse happened in Arizona, call the Police or Sheriffs Office in the specific area.

If the abuse happened in any other state, call the Police or Sheriffs Office in the specific area of that state.

2. Call the diocese in which the abuse happened.

If the abuse happened in the Diocese of Tucson, call the Victim Assistance Program of the Diocese of Tucson at 520-623-0344 (1-800-234-0344 in Arizona) and/or the Office of Child, Adolescent and Adult Protection of the Diocese of Tucson at 520-792-3410.

If the abuse happened in any other diocese and you live in Arizona, you may call the Victim Assistance Program of the Diocese of Tucson, the Office of Child, Adolescent and Adult Protection of the Diocese of Tucson or the diocese or archdiocese in which the abuse happened.

The Office of Child, Adolescent and Adult Protection works in conjunction with the Victim Assistance Program to provide a compassionate and proper response to anyone who has experienced abuse -- no matter when or where it happened -- from a person in a position of trust within the Roman Catholic Church.

We want to listen to and respond to anyone who comes forward directly or indirectly through family or a friend.

We recognize that reporting an experience of abuse is not easy, so we have established a process that is as safe and confidential as possible.

The best time to contact the Office of Child, Adolescent and Adult Protection by phone is between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tucson time, Monday through Friday.

The phone number for the Office is 520-792-3410. This is the number for the Diocese of Tucson Pastoral Center, where the Office is located.

Please ask for Dr. Paul Duckro or for the Office of Child, Adolescent and Adult Protection.

Dr. Duckro will listen to you, will help you make a report of abuse, will tell you about special support services and will try to answer any questions you may have.

You are welcome to contact Dr. Duckro by e-mail.

To ensure that a report of abuse has been made to law enforcement, information you provide is forwarded to the Pima County Attorney's Office and, when indicated, to other law enforcement agencies. In addition, you are encouraged to make an independent report to the appropriate law enforcement agency.

If you are not ready to make a report, you still are welcome to call the Office of Child, Adolescent and Adult Protection to ask questions.

If you have experienced abuse from someone within the Church, please know that we care, that we want to help and that we are sorry for what has been done to you.
